片岡は地名で､現在の奈良県北葛城郡王寺町から香芝市にかけての地を指す｡この周辺には聖徳太子建立とされる般若寺（片岡尼寺）や片岡王寺などがあり､般若寺境内から長屋王宅と同じ型式の軒丸瓦が出土していることも､木簡を考える上で手がかりとなる（『長屋王宅報告』）｡ |
