縫殿の宿直に関する文書｡衛士･兵士･丁匠の編成において一〇人をもって｢火｣と称したが（軍防令賦役令）､火長はこの火の長で､この場合衛士の火長か｡『延喜式』では火長が外門厩亭や内蔵寮の蔵の守衛にあたっていたことがみえる（内蔵式･左右衛門式･左右京式）｡またＳＫ八二〇出土の五八にも火長がみえる｡ |
